Been working a permission with cool colonial finds, coppers, buckles, etc .... Finally found my first half Reale, that celebration was short lived. Awhile later I dug a small coin out... I hunt in England so it reminded me of a hammered but here in New York? Sure enough after carefully dousing it with water the details came out. I had no idea what it was so I texted pics to my friends who helped identify it while I was still in the field, an Oak Tree Two Pence with date 1662. just incredible, I am humbled.

Photo with my first half Reale and Merc for size reference. I will get it slabbed. Thanks for looking.

I recognize Your pine tree :notworthy: Yess been digging coppers, musket balls, buckles, buttons... Same day I got a complete shoe buckle, half Reale, buttons. I normally don't post here as much as I used to because my area there is a lot of competition but since this permission is over an hour away and a inlaw I don't have to worry 8-)

Nice but all thats around 100 years newer. You got real lucky finding a silver like that especially on a mid-late 18th century site. Similar to my 1586 sixpence on a late 17th century site

Dude.. I understand how lucky I mean, we do this to recover history from the ground. History that would have been lost for ever if it wasn’t for people like us

Nothing between 1850s to 40’s or 50’s silver. Strange

Congratulations! That is an amazing find and from the looks of your other finds you have a prime location. Grid the place low and slow and clean out all the goodies. Keep us posted, stay safe and keep swingin.

PS I am green with envy. The chance of me finding a coin like that where I am are slim and none. Way to go. :hello2::notworthy:

Anyone who hunts in New England and finds a tree coin of any kind understands the elation that comes with it- I got mine in 2008 and I remember it like it happened a minute ago. That little beauty is amazing- Big time Congrats to you!!
