I very much agree with what you have said. I got a little off topic/rantish with the HD/iPhone app comments lol. I don't believe that we are "bad people" for owning lots of nice things or anything like that, I guess I just feel like some of us(obviously not you) forget about how good we have it here and we have overdeveloped the mindset of "I'm owed I'm owed."
America was unfortunately first paved with mass murders and bloodshed. Did the Natives have to kill off animals to set up camp, yeah probably. Did they kill other tribes to obtain land? Unfortunately. You nailed it on the head with what you said about that TH. I did sound like we ignore the rest of the world with my wording, I'm glad you mentioned that.
America is the first to help, the first to send aid, and normally the first to make SEVERE sacrafices for our brothers and sisters. I guess I just feel like we could do more, way more. America is so caught up r.now in gun crap and it's driving me insane, there are SO many other concerns that should take the front seat away from guns.
I have been poor, I have been homeless, I've been many things that everybody else has been and I've also been things they haven't. I remember living in my car, freezing during winter and not wanting to turn the ignition on for heat because I had to save gas. I recall sitting there, enclosed in my old white pontiac as the snow fell eating uncooked ramen out the packet. I couldn't help but feel glad/thankful that at least I had my car. At least I wasn't outside freezing and God knows what else.
We are giving millions upon billions to other countries, this I know. And that's waaaaay more than anywhere else is doing. I guess I just feel like we have more potential than that you know? We have all these nice things, but I feel like our efforts should be put forth a lot more. I LOVE having the nicest things, my LG Plasma, PS3, heat, water, etc etc.....I just wish everyone else had them too. When I drive past car dealerships and I see the HUNDREDS of vehicles that we all KNOW won't get bought at all my stomach turns. All those vehicles sitting, not moving an inch for who knows how long. Imagine if they got donated, even 1/5 of their "oldest models" would help out a town/village to no end.
I keep rereading my thread, I'm trying to word it as best as possible to not sound selfish or make you all feel like you are bad or anything.
HH everyone, thanks for all the replies.
Link, I agree it was wrong about the American indians, but it was also a different time... How do you think one tribe got the hunting grounds of anotehr tribe, it was through killing them. Indians committed mass murder on their enemies all the time, it was a way of life....
Who is the first country to send aid to a country after a natural disaster, USA is. You sound like we ignore the rest of the world which is false. As I said I have been to 3rd world countries, I know how they live, but that does not mean we need to be ashamed of the the way we live, only appreciate what we have. We can not financially support the world..... Just because I have a big screen tv and 3 cars does not make or anyone else a bad person...
I have no clue where your coming from about going to another country and complaining about our IPhone or hd channels, what the heck does that have to do with the topic of people wanting to take away our rights to own guns as guaranteed to us in our constitution? NOTHING....Thread is talking about some politicians wanting to strip the 2nd amendment from the Bill of Rights. It has absolutely nothing to do with a 3rd world country not having IPhones and HD TV channels....
Why is it so hard for some people to understand, that the 2nd amendment is there to guarantee the other rights in the Bill Of Rights will always be there. The 2nd amendment was put there to guarantee the American people would always be able to resist tyranny if it ever rose up in our government.
