Odd Piece

A hunting buddy of mine came by yesterday and gave this piece to me, he found it at a local camp this last weekend. It look's like a broken drill but the base is shaped very odd. The base if that is what you want to call it is about the size of a silver dollar and has a sharp pressure flaked edge on one side. The bit of the item is about 1 inch long and just the tip is gone the whole artifact is about 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 inches long and is made from good flint. Ok guys and gals what is it ? Here it is,

Thank's for the information, I knew it had to be a drill from the bit shape. But the base section had me puzzled a bit. Usually the bases on the drill's we find around here are not this large or crude and are better shaped and finished as you can see the base section is just a roughed out flake with very little shape to it.

It's a fish hook core....I find lots of them. I think one of your other pics that you posted may be one too. I'd have to see a pic of the other side.
