Official First Finds - I got "nailed"...
I was in the middle of finishing up some paintwork around my home today when I heard the UPS truck pull up out front. To say I was excited would be a grand understatement. The man dressed in brown slowly stepped from his mighty chocolate chariot. I felt like a little kid as I nearly fell down the steps to greet him at the door. FINALLY! My "new used" detector was now in my hands! Although it took only a short two day trip to get here, it seemed an eternity (thanks to the USPS and their screwy schedules in getting my payment where it needed to be). I shot back upstairs and closed the door to my office, smiling the whole way. Nick, if your reading this (and I'm sure you are), nobody can ever accuse you of not wrapping a package securely!
I believe the box would have survived even the most reckless of delivery drivers.
Anyway, after assembling thy "Hunter of Bounty", I decided to grab my daughter and head up to the park just to mess around with it a bit. No wonder there are so many people here on T'net! The detector was on and I walked about twenty feet and I was hooked! I could see how easily addictive this is. MY first finds are nothing to shout about (although I didn't get skunked), but the best thing (to me anyway) was seeing my daughter hi-jack my pinpointer, walk over to the base of the slide and find herself twenty-two cents (two rosies a memorial and a 1940 "wheatie"!!!). It was priceless and of course she rubbed it in my face.
I now believe that she will be just as much into digging as I am.
