OFFICIAL LA BAYOU HUNT - DETAIL UPDATES 4/4/08!!! Pg 14

BEF, I've been worried about you all day. And now we have to wait until TOMORROW?? Gads, this just isn't right!

Cooks were out tonight. We'll all be at Sam's at 8:00 in the morning with CARTS, not buggies! Dan has been cooking deer chili all day, one big pot, and had everybody in the neighborhood testing it. I think he's going to have to make another pot tomorrow!! Well, make that two pots. He's made WSD a special pot, with no bell peppers.

Some have asked for menus. Ok. Gonna post them on the thread next.

Greenhouse is getting set! Weather looks good. The Lord bless those who are already on the road.! Be safe!

Two sites now available besides the 90 acres with the 2 homesites:

1. The Hub, in town, alongside the railroad tracks that were first laid in the late 1800s (I’ll try for a more exact date). It’s been called The Hub for decades, don’t know why. Probably because it was The Hub of Archibald, as far as excitement, finance and working opportunities went in the 50s through the 70s.

The railroad depot was across the road (south) from The Hub. I don’t know what was on The Hub in the late 1800s-early 1900s, but that’s where the center of town was and I'm still researching it for plats and pics. Approximately 4 acres available for MDing. On the site is my great-grandmother’s home, still there, but it was occupied many years prior to her. The site has had something "modern" on it since, I would say, 1870. We'll see what we can find, huh? :D

I spoke with my cousin about MDing this land, and he absolutely gave his permission. In the past 50 years, it had a construction company’s headquarters on it, several buildings. The buildings have been torn down, but the concrete slabs are still there.

However, he stated to me that the land is “occupied by something.” He won’t rent the house out because he says that everybody who lives in that house turns up crazy. (This could be something good, what do ya think?) I asked him what he meant and all he would say was that it “ain’t a good place to be. Everybody who lives there ends up nuts.” Himself included. I asked his mom, my aunt, about this, and she said he’s always felt that way about the place. It’s vacant, and it’ll stay that way.

I asked him what he thought might be the problem and he said, “I don’t know. Indian burial grounds or something. Or maybe something’s buried there that shouldn’t be. I just know that everybody who’s been there, with the exception of Mama and Daddy, have gone nuts, me included. Ya’ll go out there and dig up whatever it is that makes folks go crazy. I’ll feel better then.”

I have a wonderful family, don’t I? Well, we won't knock it; we'll just go try and make my cousin feel better, huh? :D

2. Mr. John’s Place - Nice old homesite from eons ago. About 7 miles from my place. You’ll love the ole codger who owns it now. We’ll have to mow the yard so you can hunt, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Virgin MD homesite, initially settled in early 1900s, late 1800s. About 5 acres on the homesite, many, many acres of woods.

________________________________________________

Saturday hunt here at the old homeplace, then Sunday morning at Mr. John's Place, and Sunday afternoon at The Hub. Back to the greenhouse for dinner. Hunters are free to mix and mingle the places to their hearts' content. Stay at my place, go to The Hub, or go to Mr. John's place. Whatever strikes your fancy. Just be back at the greenhouse at 6:00 for grub. :)

There’s still an optional trip to Poverty Point Sunday morning. Anyone wants to go, I’ll escort. Probably an excellent trip for spouses and non-hunters, if you want to go.

Hi all

I think we're gonna have to stop the hunt about 4:00 on Saturday in order to get all the prizes given out by 8:00. :D :D

Just be aware: All prizes will be given out Saturday night ... EXCEPT the GRAND prize -- the stuffed gator!!

ON SUNDAY NIGHT, AFTER DINNER/SUPPER, THERE WILL BE A NAME-TAG DRAWING.

The winner takes home Stuffed Gator!!!

I don't know if it's a female or a male. Judie's got the names picked out already!

Allie Gator ...or Al E. Gator.

Whatever you guys decide, that'll give him/her some personality!

Noodle, I would say I am coming as he just wants to be sure my respiratory system is healing. I will not be bringing Sassy Beagle I don't think so I don't have to worry about her. I will most likely leave her at home with her brothers and sisters and have them all baby sat. My neighbor's daughter loves all 5 of them anyway and already in line to take care of the other 4.

I "do" appreciate the prayers and please continue them Thanks All

I should arrive around noon or so

1st Thank-you Nikki for the pop corn!

2nd Cyn we will all ck in to let ya know everyone is safe and sound well er maybe sound for some of us..... ;D

3rd Ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh! my goodness I wish we had a smiley that drooled!

Thanks sweet lady! oh and Bobby....you said you don't appreciate our prayers rofl I know you do and yes, will continue! ~hugsnprayers~

Menus: until we revamp them ...

Friday:
Crawfish, with corn and potatoes
Fried catfish, with cole slaw and hush puppies
Deer Chili with crackers
Desserts/Fruits

Saturday:
Pork ribs, grilled and bbq
Grilled shrimp
Louisiana Seafood Gumbo w/rice
Salad
Green veggies
Breads
Cheesecake

Sunday:
Spiesbraten (marinated pork)
Baked potatoes w/trimmings
Wild Duck w/rice
Salad
Garlic bread
Desserts

Breakfasts will be available for campers and anyone else who decides they don't like the cuisine at the local hotels/restaurants. However, be aware that you may have to wake up the cook or cook your own. Dan decided this was something he wanted to do, but unfortunately he doesn't like to do ANYTHING before 10:00 a.m. :tongue3: But he insists he's going to do it. Options for these breakfasts are pancakes, sausage, eggs, toast, and anything else he comes up with. All ingredients are in the greenhouse. Ask me: I'll point them out.

Since we didn't plan for this in our generous $$ reg plan, be prepared to fork out $4 or so for this opportunity. Even if you decide to come up and cook your own with the ingredients in the 'fridg, still plan on dropping something in the pot for the ingredients.

This is going to be fun!! A 24-hr. kitchen, cook-yer-own, pay-as-you-go. Amazing!

Bottom line: No matter if you're in a motel or tent, you can have breakfast here if you're willing to put up with the cooks and wait for your order and deposit a token $$ pmt for the priviledge! Hot coffee and lots of chatter guaranteed!!!

DETAILS! FROM NOODLE...

Hate to be legal, but no one hunts on Friday afternoon (and only in designated places) until name tags are around your necks (or pinned on shirts, whichever I get), and no one gets a nametag until Hold Harmless
forms
are signed. On the forms, too, if you are traveling alone, will be a blank for Emergency Notify. Please have the information available to fill that part out. When you get snake-bit, alligator-devoured, chicken scratched, dog-licked-to-death, kitten-purred, or bear-clawed, I don't need no dead bodies on my hands with no place to toss 'em. :whip2: So don't drive in and hop off the wagon and begin to have fun. :nono: I guess I worked for lawyers :tongue1: too long ...

NOW! IS ANYBODY GETTING EXCITED???!!!!!!!!!!!!!
