went yesterday and got the British penny and steel ring with the At Pro. Today I decided to give the DFX a real shot (left the At Pro at home so I couldn't switch back). Found 30 clad coins (9 nickels) the bling ring, a set of gold earrings (plated) and an old victorian ring markings are worn off but it's heavy. Also got a cap bomb (used to love those as a kid) and a Cracker Jack vintage lead train. Oh yeah an antique silver plated spoon now being used as a heroin spoon. It took a while to get the DFX to where I could understand it and settle it down. Now getting comfortable on what to dig and how to use dual freq.

Thanks for looking.

Ya know, I'd like to think that Subby ole boy, had a little something to do with the finding of all that stuff. Ya know? ;)

I'm not getting rid of the Pro just needed a better back up and think the DFX can do the job. Only thing is can't hunt in the rain or water like the Pro. I know I need to work on the DFX yet, they are complicated to tweak, and that's why I bought it.

MackDog,

Excellent hunt! The DFX is a very nice machine, his big brother the V3i is no slouch either.

dfx rocks. At first blush, it seemed to me inconsistent, confused, electronically challenged, as compared to the elegant, precise performance of my old eagle spectrum. I was very doubtful, and in fact, pretty quickly sold the first dfx I happened to pick up (i buy and sell stuff, including detectors), because it had not convinced me it was worth giving up the difference in resale value as compared to the eagle. Maybe I didn't give it a real chance since I wanted the considerable profit that I did in fact get from selling it ($350). But the 2nd dfx i bought - a very battered, abused individual that would probably fetch less than the eagle on resale - i gave several trials, and found old coin drops wholesale that had been invisible to the eagle in challenging environments that I had scoured absolutely as clean as possible with the eagle on numerous attempts. Also, not saying the eagle couldn't have found 4 gold rings in the last 5 months with (sadly) very little hunting time, but the dfx happened to be the machine that did it.

Don't bother with dual frequency. You'll lose depth. Get yourself an Ultimate 13" coil and run at 15 KHz.

Uncanny is the resemblance to a typical pile-o-finds from Sub! Co-inky-dink? Sub 8-)
