Re: Ok, so your detector has been in the repair shop for over a year now...

I just got off the phone with Christy at Tesoro. She told me they are tooling up in the next week and will start production soon.

She suggested I call back at the end of June :BangHead:

I asked if there were a lot of Tiger Sharks in for repair and she said no. There are a lot of backorders though.

I agree with other posts on this subject. You should demand a new one, maybe even going direct to the manufacturer. Someones service is clearly not fit for purpose. Good Luck and I hope you get detecting soon .

It wouldn't do any good to demand a new one. They haven't manufactured any in a year. Tesoro is usually awesome, but this issue has been a clusteryouknowwhat.

Re: Ok, so your detector has been in the repair shop for over a year now...

I know it's frustrating when your tector has been in the shop for a year and I can sympathize with that. But, Tesoro has allways been a good company and I think they will get this resolved and continue to be a good company. It's not just Tesoro. I'm in purchasing for a major company, and I'm seeing this from all manufacturers. It seems when the country/world went into a slump recently, all companies stopped production. I have items on order that I only hope to see in the next six months. Tesoro is not going to resolve this issue until they are sure the waterproof connector is exactly that. Give them a little more time and I'm sure you will be satisfied with the repair. You wouldn't want them to just put any old connector on your favorite MD. Be patient and give them a little more time. They are still one of the best American made companies we have. 8)

Of course he's going to give them a little more time. What else can he do? Over a year for a repair is way beyond patient. Everybody knows how good Tesoro's customer service is, but they need to go the extra mile to make this right for their customers.

Re: Ok, so your detector has been in the repair shop for over a year now...

All i can say about this is i won't be buying a Tesoro .... That is just plain crazy over a year . You would think they would try to do something for you but they don't put out any info to any one about it.. ... All you hear is next month next month next month that is all they say they should say next year next year THUMBS DOWN to tesoro for not putting out any info to any one then the dealers all they say yes i talked to them and yes only about 2 or 3 more weeks they got it worked out..... that is BS >> BS.. BS... from Tesoro and the dealers......................they all lie to you to try to calm you down................. :angry4: :angry4: :angry4: :angry4: :angry4: :angry5: :angry5: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :protest: :protest: :protest: :protest: ... BUT AS IT GOES '" YES I WILL BY A TESORO AGAIN GOOD DETECTORS "" :icon_thumright: :headbang: :hello2:

She apologized for the inconvenience and she explained that it's been a big problem for the past year.

Re: Ok, so your detector has been in the repair shop for over a year now...

I'm a very patient man, but this situation is giving my patience a workout.

I understand that when their parts supplier went bye-bye, they were left scrambling. It's not like they can just cough up a connector for me.

I'll just have to hope Tesoro resolves this problem as soon as they can.

In the mean time, I'll be searching the wet and dry sand and wonder what I'm missing in the water.

Not much else I can do. :dontknow:

Thanks for all the input. :icon_thumleft:

the sad part is Willie cant be the only one who has lost their machine for a year , what about all the others ? What about the guys who wanted a water machine that have finally given up an taken their money elsewheres...what about those that wont buy from tesoro because of this .What about the ones with a detector sitting at home waiting to send in to be repaired .Buy the time this is all said an done Tesoro is gonna feel it hard in their pocket book ....WE are the reason THEY are in business without US THEY will go under . I'm sorry this whole ordeal just pisses me off , as not only a Tesoro owner but as a person wanting a Tesoro water machine .

Tank .

You really have to call back and demand to talk to one of the Giffords. I'll bet they have no idea your detector has been there a year, and if so shame on them! I hope they read this thread, and I believe they will because I can't see it dying anytime soon, and usually companies get made aware of such discontent. The Tesoro I have seen in my 10 years is one that has even gone as far as to repair detectors for free even when the person was not the first owner. But does this buy them a pass on this, no, a year is ridiculous.

I think your patience is actually a negative here. It's time to get pi$$ed off and start getting some solid answers from the people that count.

As a representative for this Manufacture I can assure you Tesoro is doing everything in their power to rectify this situation.
Unfortunately, Tesoro was left in the dark by one of their vendors who in all honesty dropped the ball on the Tesoro.
This issue will be solved very soon and a whole line of great beach detectors will be available again.

Iron Patch, I talked to Vince Gifford in April. At that time, they had a connector manufactured by the same local company that makes their control boxes. He told me that they would be testing it soon. That test failed and so they bought the machinery to make the part themselves. They are tooling up now and hopefully production and testing will go well.

As Tank69 said, it is hitting them in the pocket book. Christy told me that Tesoro missed out on last years water machine sales and will miss out on most of this years.

But that's their problem. If it were me I'd take another detector to replace it, then shop for a water unit from another company, one that can back up their product. I just think a year is unacceptable regardless of the situation and I say that knowing the heads of Tesoro would completely agree! Good luck on getting it finally sorted out!

Re: Ok, so your detector has been in the repair shop for over a year now...

Still unacceptable.

If they don't have a working Upgrade,
I'd expect a Full Refund of the Purchase Price
so I Could Purchase another Brand.

Re: Ok, so your detector has been in the repair shop for over a year now...

Man i dont know what i'd do. I can only afford 1 detector I would go NUTS! I definantly would've tried to get a refund for a year! and probably purchased a different one. And if you really like the Tiger Shark, they lady said that not many tiger sharks were affected. So just buy a used tiger shark and take your chances. I would demand some sort of refund or something I dont know. Thats a tough spot to be in. Good thing you got some back ups.

Re: Ok, so your detector has been in the repair shop for over a year now...

a year of not being able to use your item is simply too long * to go without some sort of fiscal reward for not being able to use it, in my veiw ( esp in veiw of the "lifetime" repair clause--which is of course a major "selling" point-- thus one would reasonibly expect repairs to be done in a "timely" manner)--- agreed its not the detector makers fault their "supplier" went out of bussiness ---but they should have had a better "back up supplier" plan --car makers have back up dealers for "parts"-- there no way a car maker would say -- well we can not get a part --so park your car for a year and get away with it.
