Very true ,, any hype about old whiskey or whatever is generally misplaced or nonsense, yes there were better years 'vintages' but maturing in the bottle is a fallacy.. Wine on the other hand has a great time in the bottle, but it too is not forever, recently the wine production, here in France, has been bought over by the countries with the emerging middle classes, (think Asia) , they really don't have a taste for well aged wines , and so the production has shifted to wine styles that are better when younger, and don't age well at all.. rapid economics.. some of you may have noticed that the wines that usually held up 10 -15 years in the bottle, are now better consumed before 8 years old... just the way it is...

I can't speak for TP, but here's my take. In truth, your five word question could take
a book to properly answer, but I'll give it a shot.

TECHNOLOGY...and everything that comes with it. When I was your age the idea of a
a wireless cell phone was pretty much considered as science fiction. There were some
computers, but they were huge machines, and used punch cards for programming.
A modern digital watch has more computing power than these machines had.

The Internet, as we know it today, wasn't even invented until about 1983, which was six
years after I graduated high school.

Speaking of schools, my high school had a "Dean of Discipline", and he had a sawed-off
oar that had 1" holes drilled in it....and yes, it got used. If you didn't learn to behave yourself
on your own, they could certainly impress you into behaving.

In general, people had manners, boundaries, morals and respect.

I could go on and on, but I'll let other seniors share their ideas...

(and yeah, I'm a "senior"...and that sucks!)

I wonder why more youngsters don't get involved with treasure hunting ? I know there are some, but in relative terms (compared to older generations) it is few... I know there are more distractions now, but the current mindset is 'get rich quick' and usually involves little or no effort,, so detecting or treasure hunting should be more popular, you would imagine... I mean it is easy enough,, and has potentially huge rewards ...

Maybe kids are less patient nowadays, and less motivated to do hard work (reasearch, door knocking, hours in the sun just to find can slaw, digging)
Also, most kids play video games nowadays and takes a lot of their free time.

On my side, I love treasure hunting, been doing it since I was 7
