Doh! Yeah I think Jim is right. I was thinking of those iron spots as places where a pin attached, but they could very well be iron attachments on the back of a rosette. Don in SJ has found several pewter rosettes, as I recall. Maybe he'll have an idea on this one as well...

Merf..sure looks like a rosette..most ive found like that have a lead filled back where the iron loop was & long since rusted /broke off..They sound good when you get a hit on em!!

Thanks Buck and Billy----A rosette for sure.
It was very dull so I threw it in the tumbler for a couple of hours and was surprised that parts of it came out shiny.
