The pictures are of a clay bottle, fired, that had unfired clay covering the outside and a lot of items stuck into the clay. The bottle is about 8 inches tall and 3.5 to 4 inches around. At one time it had what appeared to be a nugget of gold that is missing. Some Of the items are buttons and one arrow head. The bottle was found by my Grandfather in 1921. The location was central Kentucky. According to my late Grandfather he found this in what was once a slaves quarters on the farm he worked. This bottle was kept in the upstairs of his home until on day a man offered him a dollar for the bottle. Upon hearing this my mother offered him a dollar and was given the bottle for free. Any ideas as to if this was the practice of the day to decorate objects such as this?
