One of the oldest parks in town. Has been used during civil war and held nazi prisoners during ww2. All buildings are gone now and just a park now. I have detected here many times and found many wheats and 2 silver Rosie's and 1 mercury dime. And this was a big surprise at only 3 inches deep. This place has been detected for over 50 years

That’s an awesome coin! The half dime is so small that a lot of the older machines missed them.

I've found half dimes with detectors from the early 1980's so I don't think its the age of the machines used there. My guess is the coin might have been on edge in the soil and presented very little surface area to detect. Great find!

Ive found 52 seated. Not one from 1860s. Easier to find a gold dollar from 1850s than most seated from 1860s :laughing7:

So it's rare after all? At least to dig. Yea I never seen any in the 1860s

It's a beauty. Congratulations

Congrats on an excellent looking Half Dime. That is one great looking coin.

Beautiful, my birth year, add 100 years, lol! Awesome coin :icon_thumright: Paul:coffee2:

Great looking coin!

Nice seated there.

Yeah it is just so hard to hunt out any place.

I find 100 plus yr old silver coins on the surface that get passed by as can lid tops.

Wow! Congrats. I tried a site like that in SC and was so dissuaded with all the junk that I gave up. Glad it worked out for you!

Awesome find great condition. Why dont they call it a nickle instead of a half dime, lol

That seated looks perfect. Congrats. Always amazing when they come out like that!

Probably because the Brits started the idea? Anyway, a 1/2 cent is another question, too..., eh?

I guess it would have to be made out of nickel? :laughing7: Anyway half dime sounds so much better and congrats on a LS half dime in such wonderful shape, Crabstang44!

once again proof that a place is never hunted out! Or some unlucky soul lost his prize coin lol! very nice find!

Nice Silver. A rare dig. Congrats!
