Hello all I just sent another post up earlier on some other fines I had from yesterday I'm out at the site again right now Easter Sunday and I just found this button I can I give it a date but it is old and its silver and it's the size of my thumb nail it does look like it has some ornate writing or design on it can someone let me know what they think it is in the age if I don't have the back side because it has a lot of dirt but the shank is somewhat there

Can't be sure when looking at just a single photo of an un-cleaned button's front, but it appears to be a 1-piece copper/brass silverplated button from sometime between 1800 and 1840. These silverplated buttons usually had a backmark, which usually included the word "plated" in either raised or indented lettering. For confirmation (or cancellation) of what I suspect, clean off your button's back and post a well-focused closeup photo of that side.
