Found this today while using my excal on the beach in Ocean View Va. Looks like some sort of end cap for a pipe but it seems to have a heat dissipation around it. Anyone have any ideas? Looks a bit beat up from the ocean but I can't tell if it was made by machinery or hand cast/forged. Thanks for looking and hopefully we can get it solved! Update: Called it copper but it could b brass. Not really sure.
Update: Here are a few better pictures of of this thing. The reason I think it may have been cast is that it is really rough and uneven on the inside which I think you can see. There is also still some other metal (lead I believe) that remains near the lip and may have been used to secure it to whatever it went on. If so...how long ago did they use lead to secure copper together?
