I was extremely frustrated with my new Ace 250 >:(. I only had a short window yesterday before the snow today, so I hit the yard. I thought I got signals with the Discovery 1100, the Ace goes nuts! So......I put it on coin mode, first 3 signals I couldn't find and the holes were getting big in the lawn, so move on. Well first got a nail, second got a strong signal at about 8" bounce all over the coin signal, well that was a big coin, so i have to run to the garage for a bigger shovel or I would have been there all day with the little digger. Big arrow shaped spade? Thinking about the post about which detector would you wrap around a tree......I tried to be patient.........next hole, nail :P. Ok one more good signal and I have to quit, got a coin signal, yes it was a quarter, fhew......1979 D but I'll take it. I know get out of the yard but the house was built in 1870 and I know there are old coins, and other very old stuff, I have found coins from late 1800 and early 1900's without the detector, so I won't give up, it will come.

Couple weeks ago with the Discovery we went to a site of an old Ice House that is torn down, was the oldest building in town, nice lead with permission. The wooded area where the foundation was frozen solid, so we hit the grassy area, and the park next to it. 1915 D wheaty, very coroded steel penny? Lots of clad, my first dog tag, pull tabs, well you'll see the pic's.

I hope to get back out there this weekend with both detectors, the test is on. I just need to bring the owners manual for the Ace with me ;). Hopefully you will see some better stuff after Sat.

I have a picture of a painting of the old Ice house, pics of the area now. Enjoy the pictures and wish me luck.

country girl,

that corroded steel penny should be a world war II penny, they needed the copper for the war so they made the 1943 out of steel. Not a common find. check it out

congrats on finding more goodies in the yard. There will be many more

Actually I had no clue what it was at first, then some one posted a coroded one on here and it clicked. I was a little happier when I heard that, should be some more older stuff at that site. Thanks for the link!

COOL !! Send it on !! It will be my good luck charm,of course I'll have to put my buzzard feather on it. ;D

After you use your 250 for a while, it and you will begin to understand each other. Then you will swear by it. I thought my $1000.00, back when I bought it DI Pro was great, now its my stand by.
They have made tremendous strides in the past ten years in MD's.

Yeah it was all the awesome things I read here that made me get my Ace also. I don't think I could resist sneaking one out of the box myself. ;) Go for it we won't tell.

Gotta' pay all the bills first, then I'll start pinching goodies. :)

"Let's see, I'll take one of these here digging knives, a 250, oh yes, one of these super magnets for all that iron junk I keep digging, the 4" dredge looks like it would go really nicely with my utility trailer..."

One of these days... :)
