This has been passed down from one generation to the next in my family, and no one knows anything about it. I have searched all over the web and and have found nothing even close to what it is or mean,a friend of mine told me to try here. It looks like it is made out of brass and my family comes from Eastern Europe, mainly Swede, my father has researched our family back to Sweden to the 1600's if that helps. If someone here could help me or point me in a direction I would appreciate it. I am not sure if the symbols mean anything or what they are.
I just noticed the poor quality of the pics, and will get some better ones posted.

The machined stem pin and "C" catch could put it around 1900-1940's. It may have held a photograph in it, possibly of a deceased loved one, as a mourning item. Welcome to the TNet! Sub 8-)

Early 1900's would be my though as well based on the pin, I've always seen pins like that labeled as "scarf pins" used to hold together the ends of a scarf together around the neck.
