Old Hotel Tag?

I found this tag near where an old 1800s hotel used to be.

It has the number 425 on it?

No unfortunately it was just a small hotel

There is no number between the 4 and 2

And i live in Texas.

I guess its not a coal miners tag. Maybe a tool tag like Brady says. Maybe associated with a lumber mill. They are old style numbers.

I know what it is, Al. Its an animal tag.

Heres a pic from my old catalog. Notice they are numbered 1 to 500.

Probably late 1800's by the style. Cattle or sheep.

Sorry But I don't agree
Its too decorative for a sheep's / animal tag
The tag seems to me that its of importance, not a simple bland animal ID tag
