Got permission to hunt a house that was part of the underground railroad. I did a morning hunt and got the stuff in the first pic second pic finds from afternoon hunt. I still have a lot of ground to cover because I go very slow. First signal was a medallion from 1851 from a piano shop in Rochester NY. Got some clad after that and then got a deep signal in the corner of the front yard dug down and got a 1901&1896 V Nickel. Some more clad and other stuff and then on the side of the house I hit the silver thimble and the two buttons. I came back a few hours later to hit the back and got the 1898 Barber Dime the second 1898 this month. The one tag in the picture says one dollar reward for return of key or drop in any mail box. On the back it says will identify by number 3490 Albany NY. I got permission to hunt a few more spots so hopefully I will have some more stuff to show soon. Thanks for looking and HH.

Great finds there! I love hunting old houses as even the trash is interesting.

I found the matching plate here in Iowa a little while back at an old house.

Had no idea what it was though. Mine has a 2 on the back below the point of the heart. It seems small for a man's heel plate though.

HH,

Dave

My heel plate is even smaller then yours. I was told the heel plate was small because it is off of a Confederate Calvary boot and the importance was the message the imprint left and not the protection of the boot heel. Maybe someone with more info can chime in. Nice find!!!

Here is a better pic of the thimble there is initials J.o.l on the front and the number 6 on the back. Thanks for your interest.
