Found this in New Orleans. Not sure of the age. Believed to be made of brass. Looks like the bar mechanism flips up. Little piece was already broke off when lock was found. I missed the clasp when I originally dug but thanks to my friend Ray who found that piece I have the complete lock.

Looks to be old. Not sure though how old but it's not modern.

Was thinking maybe Spanish. This same lot produced a Spanish Reale coin in the past.

Looks similar to this one I found at an old boy scout camp in Ohio. Someone on an MD forum identified it and found out it was in the Montgomery Wards catalog in 1895 and sold for 12 cents each or $1.25 per dozen.

Nice old lock! I hope to get out next weekend, after all the Voodoo Fest crowds leave.

Yea! Did you find any goods after the festival on Sunday?

Nah I was working on the main stage so I didn't get to look around too much, I did keep an eye out for good spots to hunt though, where the crowds were thickest. There should be some finds to be had.

Glad you could find all the pieces!

Yea, all but the key *grin*

They just do not make them like they use to. I like the intricate design. I was thinking this may be Spanish though because there was some Spanish silver coins found previously in the same location.

Nice lock !! I have a new one that I need to post as well. I dont think it is spanish though.
