Hi all, I am a moderator in another MD'ing group and our member asked me to help them with this. It sounds like a good place to detect. Too bad I live in NYC and it's too far from me. This isn't really a group hunt,(yet). But it could be one. Basically the owners want to recover old relics and stuff for their museum. Last weekend I met a couple from Mass. who were visiting California
to see their son. They bought an old Mill on one acre (in Mass.), a
couple hundred years old, for $1.00...yes, One Dollar! The
stipulation is that they restore it to the original condition (but
still keep it old looking) and put a museum in it.Behind the one acre
and the mill are 30 acres of untouched land.
Anyway, this man and his girlfriend saw me metal detecting and they
were fascinated by it. They have decided they want to buy metal
detectors and detect all that land. I told them I would try to put
them in touch with someone from my 'md'ing family' and they could get
some help in selecting which machines to buy and also the ins and
outs of md'ing.
If anyone here is located around Marshfield, MA., it sure would be a
great opportunity for them. They said they know there is so much on
that land that is historic and they could probably fill their museum
with artifacts they find. They need someone there to show them how to
do it and I am sure they would let whoever helped them get started,
detect the land they have and the 30 acres behind them.
Let me know if anyone is from that area and I will give them the
contact information. I am so jealous...I wish I could go back there
and help them but I really don't know enough about how to recover
artifacts anyway. They need someone who really knows what they are
doing.
