Back today to work the areas that have been yielding some 'old' finds; here's what came up: my first ever GAR button (this one has most of its original gilt); two more injuns (1869 and 1901) - nos. 25 and 26 from this park for me, two flat buttons (one reads treble gilt within two concentric dotted rings; the other has a sunburst center and scalloped edge design); four wheats 1910, 1918, 1940 and 1953, and some other artifacts.

Congrats on your digs!

Thanks. Three buttons is more than I usually find. Would like to know the vintage of the two flat buttons. I know the "GAR" is post Civil War.

What a cool button. Cool day of finds

Thanks, Randy. Much better day than Thursday here, rained most of the day.
Ground was easy to work today and made for easy repairs of holes.
Detected from 12:30 to 4:30.

That park has been very good to you. I see many more posts for finds from that site.

Thank, L-D. Considering people have been detecting since the '70s, there's much that's been left behind. I expect I'll continue hunting this place.

Congrats on a great hunt.
Those buttons are in really good shape.

Thanks AGW. The GAR button was, as you may imagine, a faint signal, repeatable but choppy. It was also a deep target, so no pinpointer response after plug was out. It turned out to be 10 - 11 inches deep and lying at an angle, not flat. It is in the domed-two piece style. I thought it may be military. Afterwards, I discovered it to be part of the GAR uniform worn by Civil War veterans.

Like the Indians especially the '69. There would be nothing left of it in my ground here. Super nice button! Sounds like a great place to hunt! Congrats

Nice assortment of finds..

Thanks gbm. Here in Baltimore the park conditions vary and Indians fare better where I'm hunting now.

Thanks texjim. Hard to pick a favorite. The '69 Indian was in the same area as the GAR button, the '01 Indian about 40 ft away. The two buttons came from a different part of the park.

You did really well ! Nice pictures , and Your avatar pic is really cool !

Thanks Argentium. On first swipe I thought the earlier IHP was 1889. Cleaning revealed a key date!!

DARN NICE FINDS MR DIG ....

Very nice collection of coins and buttons! The GAR button is beautiful.

Thanks Professor. I take it the GAR button was dropped as a new issue. It would appear that there was little wear of the original at the time is came off the blue jacket.

Thanks Sutphin. Hunting with the F75 and NEL Tornado sure beats my beginning days with the Fisher 1280X.

You're definitely killin' it in the parks.
