Any clues as to what this is? I thought maybe a pill box of some sort and was also told by an old timer that it was an old opium box.

Does it have a loop for a chain? I was watching a program a a week or so ago and they had something very similar to that and it was used to hold perfume for ladies. There was very interesting info on it I think it waas Antiques Road show I saw it on.
