This symbol is very close to the Pentagram. Eliphas Lévi, born Alphonse Louis Constant, (February 8, 1810 - May 31, 1875) was a French occult author and purported magician.

"Eliphas Lévi," the name under which he published his books, was his attempt to translate or transliterate his given names "Alphonse Louis" into Hebrew although he was not Jewish

I think the symbol on the top face is a Cipher Wheel :icon_scratch:

It also looks hand made, I would definitely go to a College or University to have someone check it out!!!

I may be off base here, and this is just my gut feeling mind you, but something tells me this is not that old. Possibly a modern wiccan ring made to look old.

you will apologise my spelling as i'm french :wink:

i will introduce myself and then tell a bit more of the story .

i made a mistake on my avatar, i do live on a island in the french west indies , for the moment i will not be too much precise of the exact location as its the first time that i've been posting on the net the pictures of the ring. i fortunately found treasurnet by hasard, this is an amazing forum with passionnate people. that is what i was looking for

i never shown the ring before to any college or university as we are my brother and i quite noobies in treasure hunting !

we (with my bro) use only (for the moment) snorkle to hunt our stuff

, i know it seems crazy , but we got a special trick for treasurehunting,

using our snorkle , we cannot see anything on sand , so we hunt on rockysoils! its a chirugical technique but seems to work :icon_pirat:

i found the ring trapped between two rocks, 10 meters of the shore. it was very dirty and i left it in my pocket quite a while before i cleaned it ^^'

couple days after, as we cleaned it, more and more questions came to find not many answers.

the ring is 2 centimeters in diameters and appears like very old gold, as the inside is yellow too.

if you got any more question i will answer as accurate as i can , (despite the exact location

)

Great find!!!

I believe the pentagram meaning varies on which way it is oriented. The symbol in the middle of the pentacle makes me think it is an upright pentacle (star point facing up) which is a symbol to expel bad luck.

If the pentacle was to face downward, it would be a black magic symbol as in black witchcraft. Dont hold me to this, but I believe the symbol means "woman" and may refer to mother earth or the earth spirit.

I too believe that the writing may be hebrew as well as christian and possibly other influence. I guess they figured if they combined all religions, they would gain favor by someone somewhere, lol!

HAHA, like the Guide in The MUMMY!!! LOL he has all the religious charms and starts reciting Prayers when the Mummy appears.

The markings definitely appear to be Hebrew, the symbol in the middle of the pentagram could be Mercury or Venus. Overall I'd say it's most likely occult related.

One question I have is was it cast poorly or was it cast with lots of impurity's in the gold cause to me it looks like gold filled? I have only seen filled gold pit like this not hi karat gold? Can someone shed some light on this?

psst -- if your in the indain ocean area off of africa -- know that 15 /16 century portugese spice traders often used that routing going to and fro when spice trading -- there could have been jewish or early christan type spice traders / missionary types onboard :wink:

see if there is a shipwreck is around. * ---gold and silver were often used as payment for spices as they were quite valuible back then. ==if the vessel wrecked going to pick up spices could be lots of gold / silver onboard ,. :headbang:
