Went out into the 60+ weather today and had a great day.Hunting what is one of the oldest settled areas in the u.s. Theres public sites here to search so i drove around a bit with another tneter dsw08.I had done some research and found a park on a 1891 map by the burned down sandwich glass factory.seems someone had hit it already as all we were finding wqs clad.
I found a strip or town grass area in front of a row of houses built in the erly 1700s ,the area is about the size of a football field.figured it might be worth a few older coppers and some relics .after about 5 minutes my xlt sounded off a great tone.About 6 nhes down i found a copper ,I cant idenifie do to to much wear.it looks smaller than a large cent and thinner .Also found was a brass piece some kind of hook .To my amazement the date june 1481 is on it .but before i could gloate the letters pat. were there .is there any way to look up a patern number?.
I will go back to that site as i didnt even cover 1/3 of it .we moved over to the village and seperated ,I went in the woods behind the town library while dsw went and checked out the strips of grasss along old main street .In the woods i found two very old large trees had been uprooted and reveiling under the roots a treasur of bottles ,teapot and other things .that site to will be revisited.Took home two bottles and a small jar.
If there is any way to figure out what kind of copper it is let me know.Ill post a picture but it really doesnt help
