Old sayings

I remember all kinds of old sayins from growin up but just a few so I don't get accused of bein 'pompous'. He wouldn't know sh*t from wild honey. To someone proposing a grand scheme that you doubted would come about, 'Yeah and you might sh*t and fall back in it.' The other night at work I used this one that nobody understood 'That boy is so lazy he'd stop plowin to fart'. One more, 'Your mama didn't raise no fool, she raised you instead'. And it's not a sayin, but I wonder if Oddjob knows what 'porcupine' applies to?
 

Lower than a snakes belly in a buggy rut.

Tighter than a bulls ass at fly time.

Raining like a tall cow peeing on a flat rock.

Nuttier than a bag of squirrel doodoo.
 

Have a cornbread living, which meant getting by. Ask old timers how they was doing and sometimes they said they were sitting up and taking nourishment.
A play-pretty was a toy. A whore master was a truly rotten man.
Putting on airs. Sunday-go-to-meeting-clothes.
 

Here's a good one but,there's a corruption on the internet and else where about the meaning.Heres the saying "Hokahey"Lots of disinfo about it meaning "it's a good day to die" that's false.The real meaning or,as close as you can translate it into English is "Come on let's go"Crazy Horse said that as he and his warriors rode into battle against Custer.

That is interesting. I don't know how many times I've heard that "good day to die" line used in films.
When you think about it, the line seems to imply an acceptance of one's fate, which implies a depth of philisophy which was probably not developed by the Indians. Just my opinion however.
Accepting one's fate would be more in line with the Samurai.
Your meaning makes more sense.

Not sure if the following are old sayings, if not, then oh well.

Mother in Laws should be sold into slavery.

Mother in Laws make the best chum.

My mother in law is big enough to provide bait on a 2,000 set trap line.

For sale, mother in law.

Or things you would say to an mother in law.

I hope you hit a patch of ice in the Alps, go off the road, get trapped in the car, but only injured so that you can live just long enough to see rescue workers go from rescue mode to body recovery mode.

You would be really cool if you would hang your self in the name of anything you want, your choice, just hurry up.

would you please fall down my staircase, I need to ensure that each step is child friendly.

Better not fly to China for New Years, I have connections there and by years end you will be charged and convicted of drug smuggling and by your birthday donating your organs.

Yep, she is one of those people who does not think white should marry black women, and she takes it out on my kids.

Yes I have already suggested that we hang her for the Christmas tree.

"A nickle holding up a dollar!"- old tradesman's gripe of a journeyman waithing on an apprentice.

And then you got- "A Nickle holding up a dollar."

That's was when the apprentice has to carry the hungover journeyman. Yeah I know they both look the same on paper, but they are spoken very differently.
