Hey bomber,

I have a coinmaster 4000/D series 2. The manual Jeffro posted is 99.9% identical. It's even got the same chick in the same poses ;D

My manual says "printed in U.S.A. 11/81

Jeffro's posted manual says "printed in U.S.A. 1/82

Only difference I coud see is the 4000/D has a low batttery alert in the upper left corner. ;)

looks just the same,how do you like it?again big question,what should i offer?i'm thinking 20-25........aand yes,the chick ;)

I say if you can get it for $25 Take it.

I'd go as high as $40'00 for that Model IF I wanted one.

bomber,

like jeff, I'd go as high as $40 and maybe $50 ;)

It's a good machine for it's age. Not near as heavy as me excal ;)

Jeff in PA, I think you're confusing the 5000d series I, with the 5000d series II. The series I was a lousy machine (maybe ok for its time, but a dinasour now). The Series II was ok. Still not going to be competitive for today's standards (depth, TID, swing speed, etc....). $70 is probably about right for a series II on the used market, but if I were you, I'd spend a bit more and get a newer machine, with advancements that've come out since the early '80s.

Re: It looks like a White's 6DB. They were good for 4"-5" but very heavy.

.........it was a classic detector in its day. I found lot's of goodies with it then.

My guess??

$40-$45 is tops.......if it works............see ya mark

he came back at $40.00,i went to $30,find out later

:) Battery holders from Whites? Of course they have them! I ordered a two 6 AA battery holders and one 8-AA battery holder from them through their online store a few weeks ago for my Sears TR 5000. The 6 AA holder was $3.95 and the 8 AA holder was $3.95. I don't know why you cannot find the parts now on their website. Here is a link to their page direct for the parts you need: http://hobby.us.whiteselectronics.com/content/view/37/132/

I bought my TR 5000 from Ebay and it was new but was missing the 6-AA battery holder. No problem! Whites supports their detectors back to 1968 for the parts.

Yes it's Tuff Tom.
I owned the 6ooo series 2 & thought it was an Excellent machine
up untill I used the Sovereign for a year then picked it up
again. it was like a toy then. this is why I said if he's not
expierenced with the newr detectors.

My deepest coin find was an 1812 Large cent at 10 to 12
inches, but was a whisper, I almost thought was my Imagination.
till I popped it out.
I don't remember ever getting any other coin over 8" with it.

I sold it for $100.00 & the guy who now ownes it still loves it.
Won't sell it back to me.

After looking at the Different models of Whites/sears back then
it is very hard to tell them apart. it seems the main difference is where the controls are. and what the controls say.
some have the Disc control Middle Left
Some Middle Right. Some have a Battery Light
others have a Control to turn & the Needle
tells you how much battery left.
Very Confusing when you try to match Sears with Whites
by Control position.

and you swung the 6000 Fast to go deep.
Not real fast like the Bounty Hunter Red Barron, but
fast.

got it for $30.00.hope it works

it works!went to my dealer(windy city/ron shore)he had the battery holders in stock(no charge)it started right up,he called it a "whipper"cause ya gotta swing it real fast, took it out yesterday got a couple bucks in clad

Looks to be a pretty decent deal for this old model.

But you can buy a used like new Tesoro Compadre for about $100 if you look around and aren't in any hurry. For about $150 a used Silver uMax is 5 times the machine (in my opinion).

Some of those 1980's Silver Sabre's go cheap and are superior to that Whites. I bought a Silver Sabre II for $127 from a dealer and it's an awesome detector.

Just my 2 cents.

i really bought it for nostalga, came real close to buying a water machine he had,but i need more advise before i make that move

If that's a 4900 it has the deepest White's all-metal mode ever produced.

pics rich ??? corner an id on it........ ;)
