Kred, A "stock" badge is one that bears a generic title, such as only "Police" or "Deputy Sheriff," and were made in large numbers and kept on hand by the badge making companies. They were offered to agencies at very low prices, because they were simple to make and required no special tooling. During the period when these badges were used, (late 1800's-1950's) they were usually offered in catalogs at about the $2.50 to $10.00 range. Fantastic finds, congrats. I have seen and owned legitimate "stock" Deputy Sheriff badges like this one many times in my collecting career. What does the back look like? Any pin and catch remnants or hallmarks? Cheers, Sub

Kred, Looks like a soldered safety pin was once there, along with a silver plating (remnants on the upper left of the rear) Its large size and all the evidence there would lead me to believe that this was a genuine deputy sheriff badge, probably issued by the Sheriff of the county you found it in. Arizona became a state with counties in 1912, so it may be as early as that! Congrats on a great find. Sub
