Looks like an old buggy tire. Too narrow to be from a wagon. Tony

I agree with Tony . Buggy tires were bolted . Most wagon tires were heat shrunk for a solid fit with no fasteners . The compression was part of the strength of the wagon wheel .

The only thing I wonder about, are the inner pegs, which at first seemed like an old high wheel, BUT the pegs would have been able to hold spokes which they don't seem to have enough of for a high wheel, unless it was very early wooden which it's not because it's bent. Even on most buggy wheels, they did not have even shaped inner pegs for the spokes to fit into unless the spokes went OVER them? :dontknow: Hollowed out tubes? :dontknow: I wish I could see a larger pic of those pegs up close.

EDIT: The Otto had wooden spokes and metal rims, so depending on the make up of those pegs, could it be Otto? :icon_scratch:

I agree we need closer pics of the pegs.

The more I look at it, the more it reminds me of an old band that went around a tractor wheel and it may be flipped inside out or not but other than that, I'll wait for other pictures.

thanks for the replies, i think its a buggy or cannon wheel, six sided nuts on the peg. threaded studs.

I believe this is closer to yours.

Wheel

and...

Wheel2

And after seeing the close up of the ring and such, it was much easier to tell what it was :icon_thumleft:

Wheels posted by PChammer appear to be a match :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

That's a neat relic kiddrock33 :icon_sunny: How deep was it? Would think you could get the wheel rounded out again

So its a buggy rim?

It is a buggy tire,or (tyre as it used to be spelled). It's probably 1860's or newer. The threaded studs bolted through the wodden wheel. Later that same style tire was rubber molded to make a smoother ride. Tony

Definitely a buggy wheel. I found one last year and posted it on here. Mine looked exactly the same as yours.

Kiddrock, If you want more of these, I can direct you to 4-5+ more spots where we found some. Hogge

I found a heavy wagon wheel metal rim where they used mules and wagons to build a primitive road. It was a lot heavier and wider and was a shrink fit. So, I definitely think it is from a buggy wheel. Green check! Monty
