olive oil

Hi blong, a dug coins value is usually about as low as it gets already unless you get a silver that comes out clean. If you try to remove all the oil from the Indian it will most likely have little detail left to be seen unless it is in great condition. Just dry it off and let it sit and after a while the greasy appearance usually goes away.

Does this hurt the value at all I always wondered this because then the coin would be darker.

The oil will eventually dry off. The value of the coin wont be affected. Some people actually like a darker patina on old coins.

If you want the olive oil off right away, use some acetone. It won't effect the coin color. I always like something on a copper coin to keep it from corroding however. I use Coin Care myself.
