OMG!!! Am I a redneck??

I can't reply to this cause it was 5 or 6 yrs ago that I was fishing out of a 10ft john boat that was given to me. It had a bunch of small holes in the transom and on the very bottom but only in the back by the transom, I got it that way. Some duct tape and aluminum tape and I fished outta that thing for a little over a year. Judging by the pic, you dia heck of a job for being doused.

LOL! Im planning on painting her with flat black primer although urban camo is somehow appealing to me. I broke a front leaf spring a couple years ago while out four wheeling.............put bigger springs in & it jacked my front end up 3 inches, & it was already lifted. It now looks like Im hauling a ton of bricks around in the back. I'll lift the ass end 3 more inches next week & Im looking at new rims & much bigger tires soon. Its my beater, my daily driver. Got headers on er, Edelbrock four barrel, nice exhaust system, runs like a raped ape & is an amazing four wheeler for a big heavy suburban. Its never let me down & I get a little crazy out there sometimes, push it to the limits. Ive also got a 94' suburban 4x4 in great condition, but I rarely drive it, prefer my old beater truck! How many Suburbans should a redneck own? ...............the answer is two (2).

Nice call Digger. It was actually off an early to mid 70's Firebird/Trans Am. It was a "shaker", somehow bolted to the carb & the hood was cut so the scoop stayed put when you opened the hood. We cut quite a bit off the bottom of the scoop to get it to fit on top of the hood. Redneck ingenuity at its best!

all my "hood scoops" from my old muscle cars back in the day were always forward facing to force more air in the 4 barrel carb

Now I may be a REDNECK, but I aint stupid & putting a scoop on backwards would qualify me as being dumb as a bag of hammers! RGINN, Ivan............this is a Pontiac "shaker" scoop. They went on just as we put it on my hood, they normally had a solenoid valve that connected to a flap in the opening, it was tied in & controlled by the throttle. I did not have this assembly so I put chrome mesh in. As I stated in an earlier post the scoop attached to the carb & hood was cut around the scoop. We cut the bottom of the scoop down to fit on top of the hood. Heres a pic of one properly installed (on a TransAm, not a Suburban.......imagine that!).

Just take a paint roller pan, paint it, turn it upside down, and duct tape or gorilla glue it to the hood. Instant hood scoop for less than 5 bucks and true redneck.

Im writing all this down boys..........I still have another Suburban to "customize" you know. I love the paint roller pan concept! I've always considered myself a big ol' redneck, a "good ol' boy", but Im being schooled by y'all & Im lovin it!!!

A scoop faces toward the window,
Ram air faces toward the bumper.

So lets pick nits ...LOL
either one is cool
A scoop feeds the intake on fuel injection.
Ram air feeds a blower or supercharger.
