They had a similar law here but just this year they changed all that, revoked all current permits and banned all salvage of wrecks FOREVER!
The thing is the Provincial gov. wont even pay to protect and preserve some of the oldest light houses in North America so I don't see them paying out one penny to do any archeology on shipwrecks most of which are younger then the light houses.
And if you happen to say find a gold coin on the bottom and say don't leave it there then you are a criminal or pirate or something like that.
