Chug, congrats on your first Indian Head! It gives me hope that I may find one here in California. And Red, please get lots of rest before you head out again!

You dealt very well with those creeps! Where I live, homeless groups differ hugely one from another. One friendly group at a beach gave me good tips resulting in more coins that day than ever before. But in a large park with picnic tables scattered on a hill, one guy bypassed empty tables to plop himself down at the one where I was on hands and knees digging. He never said a word, just stared sullenly. His buddies were nearby gathering wood for a fire in the metal grills, where there were several empty tables. I grabbed my backpack off the table and put it next to me, continued to detect right there for about ten minutes, but he didn't leave. Deciding against conversation, I finally got up and moved several tables away, pissed off but not feeling like a confrontation. I'm a 70 year old grandma, five feet tall and somewhat wobbly, so anyone could probably take a digger right out of my hand! Avoided being in that park alone after that. A few months later in the same park, someone stole my son's backpack when he had his back turned detecting. We've never had trouble in any other park, and most homeless people either ignore us or just walk by with the usual joke of "Found the gold yet?"

Happy Hunting to you both! Andi

Congrats on the find.I think my first one was a 1907.It sure is fun to get that first one out of the hole.

Haven't gotten out in a long time. Hard to find anything when I can't get some :icon_sunny:!
Congratulations on the IH penny! To PA John, this might help you find a few. You definitely have the detectors! :icon_thumleft: http://www.historicmapworks.com/Atlas/US/6901/York+County+1876/
