Last year I hunted almost every day after work. This year I have spent more time complaining about the heat, and less time swinging the coil. I am trying to reverse that trend. To that end, I slipped out yesterday after work, and hit a vacant lot in the hood. The place has given up a few silver dimes, but not many, and it is extra trashy.

I was able to scratch up one lonely silver Rosie, a wheatie and a Canadian cent. Plus a ton of trash and some modern coins.

YTD silver coin #37.

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts!

Does Todd know you went without him and to his Secret spot to boot?

Does Todd know you went without him and to his Secret spot to boot?

I was at "my" secret spot, in Charlotte. Todd has been to the spot. He found his first silver coin with his new Deus at the spot.

Todd knows that I am way to lazy to sneak into his spot!

37 STDs. Nice! :happysmiley:

I was trying to count all of the STDs that I have had, as I was certain that it was less than 37... then I figured out it stands for Silvers To Date... Very well played!

So That's 37 Silvers,and how many STD's?

Nice piece of shiny stuff you got there

Tom, even though you got a late start last year, you found a LOT (by my standards) of silver coins. Do you think you are going to be able to surpass last years total?

Thanks for the kind words.:icon_thumleft:

In 2015, Jan, Feb and March were really slow for me with only a dozen silvers. I have picked up the pace since then, and am now at 37.

Last years total was 60 (I didn't start "finding" silver coins until April 5th) , however, at the beginning of July, I was at 16. So I am currently 21 ahead of last years pace.

It certainly appears at this point, that I will easily exceed last years total.

Disclaimer: You just never know what will happen. I need to hunt aggressively and hunt often, and hunt places that produce. If I can keep everything moving in the right direction, I should be around 80 by year end. Stay tuned!

Another silver is a good day!!!

A nice silver coin it is! Plus a wheat and Canadian! Very nice congrats!

Get yourself a cool pack to wrap around your neck, it helps.

I'll be digging in a sports field Sunday to see what I find, and watering the grass with sweat!

Nothing wrong with one lonely silver dime...it can always be worse.

Tom sorry to hear about the extended heat wave. I like hot weather and do not mind the humidity. I just make sure to take a cooler full of bottled water and some freezer packs. Congrats on the silver rosie! :occasion14: Any hunt that gives up silver is a good hunt. I hope to hit your goal this year of 60 silvers. I only found 20 last season, but have 23 so far this year. Hunting more permissions is really paying off. Less quantity, but more quality. I am happy with 7 cent hunt if one coin is an OD nickle and the other 2 are older wheats. Last season I was averaging about $25 a week. This year that has dropped to less than $5 per week, but I am pulling more silver and older coins. Doubt if I beat last years $$$ total of over $510.

not a bad hunt tom, Nice to add some silver to the ytd count! I hear ya about the not getting out, if it wasn't for my roadtrips south, I would be having a ho-hum year.
