Optimal coil for depth with Tejon?

I'm looking at buying a Tejon in the next couple of months and it will be a dedicated relic hunting machine. What would be the optimal coil for depth with this machine?

What i've heard is stock coil goe's deepest,10x12 go about the same depth as stock just more coverage,and 5.75 goe's within couple inch's of stock but get's in between the trash better.Had a t for almost 2 yrs.wish i still had it,but made a mistake and listened to somebody i shouldn't have...anyway i would stick with the stock and the 5.75 and you'll do fine.......hh rh

The standard coil on the Tejon is a compromise between depth and accurate pinpointing. The 8X9 concentric coil that comes with it is fine for most relic hunting. If you feel you need a little more depth and the ground isn't very mineralized, you can get the larger 10X12 Widescan. The neat lil 5.75 is very useful for small places or next to metal posts. I haven't used the HOT coils from Tesoro so I can't comment on them.

Sandman, curious about your comment that if the ground is not very mineralized the 10X12 might give a little more depth. I'm thinking that the ground is a little mineralized here, since I did some tests tonight with my fixed GB machine and the best I can get is about 7" on a 3-ringer bullet, with the machine supertuned. Its becoming clear to me that I need a machine that I can manually ground balance. Is there anyone in North Alabama or S. Mid Tennesse using a Tejon, that I can talk to? What I mean by if the ground is not very mineralized a larger coil like the 10X12 will see more area and slightly deeper. If you have more mineralization and use a larger coil you are also seeing more of the minerals in the coils field. When your ground balanced in one spot, and move the ground can change enough to give you less minerials or more. The only way around this as I can see is to constantly check the GB or have a true auto GB detector. We never have it easy and what seems like a simple thing gets out of whack if we think about it to much.

Hopefully someone from your area with a Tejon will post their opinions and suggestions.
