Hello,
In our second week of medal detecting we came up with some crazy stuff.
My wife LeeAnn, daughter Lyndee and myselfset ofto the park.
We are still learning to use the Garrett Ace 250 we named "Findoe"
We hit a quarter right away.We are still in the sand play grounds till we learn some more.
Thought it might not be a good thing to dig big holes till we got use to pin pointing.
We hit on some metal 4" deep, I dug and dug. I was going to giveup when Lyndee said she would keep going. Well she found some thing big. After digging for a while she pulls out the head to a shovel. LOL
Here is the list of finds for the two hours in the park.
9-Pennies
1- Dime
2-Quarters
1-Spoon
1-Butter Knife
1-Shovel Head
1-Zipper
3-Pop Tops
And a bunch of stuff. See the picture!

Hey thisis really fun.
The prize for meis the time with the wife and kid!

Make it a great day!Thank s for everyones help!

Hi pentico
wellcome to Tnet and a great hobbie.
You'll have lots of fun days out.
HH Dave.

How old is your daughter? My son, daughter and I started detecting when they were 12 & 10. A lot of fun when first starting. My son and I still regularly go out hunting. It's nice to have a hunting partner. ;D

Welcome to tnet from the UK.

Good luck & Happy Hunting

yes welcome. Glad you are able to use treasure hunting as a family get together. sure do wish the wife would jump on the THn band wagon. Makes it alot easier to get out. oh well enjoy. :) :)

Yeap, know what you mean.

I tried to get my brother interested & I found him asleep in the middle of a stubble field (very unconfortable wheat stubble!).

Tried to get my better half involved & she found a Roman Coin on her first outing & still didn't get hooked??

Dang, let me find a roman coin and my wife would have to send out the authorities to find me cause i wouldnt leave for a lonnnnnng while, lol. I thought rings would get her interested but all the ones ive found have never fit her. Found a 1905 IH the other day, showed it to her, she said "oh ok" and set it down not even gettin a good look at it.

Welcome to Tnet and this great hobby. Everytime you use your detector on a outing you're gonna get to know it better. After awhile you're going to be one with Findoe. 8) It's great when a family can enjoy it together. It's a win - win no brainer. I've taken my 11 yr old daughter but I don't think she's into it. She never asked again. I even posted her first finds here hoping she'd be into it. She helps in the cleaning and inspecting with the magnifier. My 16 yr old daughter would say something like " What are you a dork? The wife says' she'll come digging when we retire. I hate to admit it but, sometimes I see it as a different kind of win - win. I get to dig and get away from the wife and kids for a few hours. ;D
Happy Hunting, Mike in NJ

Way to go Nice finds
