P B Co Button

Found this button today at a log cabin site. I know the "P B Co" is for the Patent Button Company. But what is the "SERVICE" mean on the front side?

It's the Patent Button Co., not Pattern

Found a different one by P.B.Co. , same patent date with "Angeles 1000" on front.

These 4 holed buttons are called "advertisement buttons." Silversimon had a great link on these but it disappeared. Unlike an out of print book, its a shame to see great research web links just disappear. Hopefully TN will not just vanish. Thanks for sharing! I dug this exact same overall button near Ansted,West Virginia actually near (basically in) a civil war camp! got excited til I rubbed off the 1924 part! still a kewl overall button!

An interesting side note to this is a web site I found while searching for the button maker. There was a Patent Button Co. in Nashville, TN. But, there was also a link to the Waterbury Button Co being involved with or owning the Patent Co.

I found one of these today, how do you clean them? Mine says LOEB'S, but it's hard to tell. Found in Raleigh, NC. The back says PB Co Patent dec 9th 1924
