First time here. Me and my son love creek walking. Have some photos of some things we found. The one looks like a bird on one side and when you flip it over it is either a snapping turtle or another kind of bird. Please let me know if attachments did not come over. Thank you
Jogtac, glad to have you and your son with us. Welcome aboard.
Your pieces are are all naturally fractured creek stones. Very common in most creeks.
There are are quite a few posts on here about Stone Tools. You can search by that or search by a members name. I have quite a few posts on Axes, Celts, Pestles, Hammerstones, Hoes, etc. Do a search on my name and check some out.
Dont give up yet. Do research on your area to see what materials and types you should be looking for. Get permission and try plowed fields after good rains as well as creeks. Good luck to you both and Happy Hunting!
I'll leave the identifications to the experts. I'd like to welcome you to the forums and tell you that I think it's great that you and your son are spending time together exploring and bonding. Cherish it. It doesn't last long.
And to quote The Grim Reaper above, "Do research on your area to see what materials and types you should be looking for. Get permission and try plowed fields after good rains as well as creeks. Good luck to you both and Happy Hunting!"
