Panning Gold in KY, I'm a Newbie what would you do?

Well the topic I guess said it all, I want to start Panning and Prospecting this year, along with my MDing. So all you old guys where do you start? What equipment do I need, what areas should I look at, what is the best technique? I live in the Eastern most part of Kentucky, which if your not familiar with this area, is all Mountain's! So we boarder WV and VA and real close to mineral rich NC.... all advice will be appreciated!!! :icon_thumleft:

If I were in that area, I would start with some streams or creeks near the mountains, then slowly work my way up them just panning here and there. Then and if you happen to come across something, set up a sluice maybe. I actually started building my own, real anxious to try it out this spring. Best of luck to you!

Start out with a pan, shovel and a pint of Whiskey...

No sense in over-investing until you know you like it...

Then buy a liter next time :icon_thumleft:
