I am curious about Md in parks and sports fields, I was wanting to ask people with more experience if this something you do or tend to stay away from. I live in Riverside CA so I don't expect to ever find any thing very old in my aria, but finding jewelry and and coins people lose I figure will be fun while I learn how to use my machine properly. please let me know what you think. And if anyone lives near me and wants to go out some time send me a notification.

I think that just for general hunting, learning or learning your MD, it is best to go where a lot of coins are. I recently spent a day at a park where I knew I wouldn't find anything old practicing my plugging and probing techniques took me a couple of hours and I got really good at popping coins out of the soil.

Why would you think you can't "find anything very old" in Riverside CA sports fields and parks? Friends I know in your area are finding old things down there this very minute, all the time, in "parks and sports fields". I mean .... depending on what you mean by "old". By that I assume you mean silver and such? If so, it's routine. As for finding folks to hunt with, you can get on the Kinzli forum, which is specific to just CA hunting. There's a good handful of So. CA hunters who chime in there.

Rickey, prepare to be surprised - because that's what metal detecting is about - you don't know what you are going to find , or where you're
going to find it ! Yes definitely - parks and athletic fields can be excellent places to hunt . All locations are subject to different ordinances ,
regarding public uses of a given park , campground , beach , etc.
