Got out at the end of the day on my business trip to Houston last night with the Nox 800 and found a first for me- silver and Gold pendant and an old silver ring. Park 2, 5 tones, recovery speed 7, iron bias 1, and first four tones set at vol 1, F Fifth tone set at conductivity 20 and vol 25. Too much aluminum trash to dig low conductors. That medallion is really sweet, congrats on that. I like the ring too.

Good luck to you sir!

Be careful! Here is a little info taken off another forum where a guy asked about detecting Houston city parks and the response he got:

Hi
Byron, I am very new to the hobby of metal detecting. I made an inquiry with
the City of Houston Parks & Recreation Department regarding metal detecting in
city owned parks. I was advised that metal detecting is allowed in the parks.
However, a person may not dig or disturb the grounds. I have pasted their response below.

" Chad: You can metal detect at the parks but you may not dig or excavate anything within the parks. We have adopted the State Antiquities Laws in which you may not dig or
disturb the grounds of the parks.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Harold T. Norris, MBA,
Ph.D. Division Manager Urban Park Rangers
City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department

Nice job, way to get something fun out of your work trip too!

love the ring, had it been cut? it doesn't look super thin there at the bottom. sounds like you managed to hunt without any problems but it might get different if not careful

I don't think it was cut. I think it broke when I was compressing the dirt around it digging. It was a deep target the dirt was compact with clay and rock. When I got behind the ring with the shovel and pushed, the dirt compressed. Just a theory, I don't really don't know?

Does anyone know what the green stone may be in the middle of the ring?

Congratualtions on the nice pendant find! :occasion14:
