No rain, no high 90's temperature and nice blue skies, so I headed out to a park that has a pair of soccer fields.
Using my White's M6 and the 4.5X7 Excelerator coil ( for the trash) I first hit the small playground area. Only getting a couple of pennies I walk over to the farthest soccer field. Searching along each side of the goals I was picking up some clad coins, then going in front of the goal I was getting mostly bottlecaps.
Walking to the center of the well played field, I start getting some clad coins. And after picking up a few pulltabs with a VDI of 24 and 35 the next VDI reading of 30 was interesting. Digging in the middle of the field at a depth of 4 inches out popped a nice color of ring. GOLD!!! I didn't bother to wipe it off or clean it..I just wrapped it in a piece of paper towel and put it in my coin pouch. Not getting much else for about 30 minutes, I start back to my car still swinging my M6.
Picking up a few more clad coins until I get to my car.
When I got home and cleaned off the dirt from the ring it sure looked nice..... but it is a 18K GE ( plated) with a CZ stone. Tested the stone 3 times with my diamond tester to make sure!!!!
Can't win them all!!!! :P :P

But I sure enjoyed my day.

That's a pretty rough looking field. The ones I do are pretty well kept up, and I only dig targets that my pinpointer will detect. The only times I will go deeper is if it is a quarter signal, and that's because it could be a ring. Most of the time I only pry the target out, if I have to dig I am very carefull not to leave any damage to the field. I would say that most targets I recover are 3" or less. I only do them during the week, early in the morning when no one is using them. That way there is less chance of some one giving you any flack.

There are 2 fields side by side....total of 4 goal posts and they both look this bad. Like I stated, I only detected because of the bad shape of the fields. There is some trash but not enough to use the small coil, besides that, it takes to long to cover any ground.

Next time there, I am going to try my White's 6X10 Eclipse coil.

Thanks everyone, yes it is a nice looking ring( looks to be a size 12), thought I had a "real" gold one, but it was a cool find anyway. :)

I agree, I use my 9 1/2" on fields because you can cover more area. That 6 X 10 ought to do the trick, too. Let me know how well it works, I'm thinking about getting a larger coil.
