Got a new site we visited to get a feel for what's there today. It's got some pockets that aren't to overgrown. Got this piece and a button.

I don't think it's a hinge, I think it's a picture hanger. something like this

I agree , hinges like this are often seen on Indiana cabinets such as Hoosier, McDougall, Napanee etc...

This one is slightly different, on a McDougall cabinet in our kitchen

all those hinge examples lack the tapered / narrowed end. in other words the hinges are the same width on both ends

another hinge on same McDougall, on the leaf attached to door, the Copper plating is worn away showing the center Knuckle

what's difficult to see in photo's is, the hinge is made up of two leaves, if you remove the pin, take it apart, one leaf will have a center knuckle, one leaf will have two end knuckles. this example found is the leaf w/ center knuckle, albeit flattened & damaged.

but the O P post shows an item with one side more narrow on one end. the hinge is the same size on both ends

this is a butterfly surface mount hinge in it's beginning stages. each leaf has tabs that will be rolled over a pin. The tabs are offset, held together by pin , to allow for them to pivot. The OP's hinge leaf would be the left side with narrow knuckle in center. Left leaf has one knuckle, right leaf has two knuckles - leaves are not identical for mechanism to work properly & not interfere
