Went back to cavalry site got on an iron pit , found a decorative brass or copper grommet with some canvas still atteched and this was also in the hole . I'm going to clean it up and see

Got this also maybe part of heel plate or oxe shoe, it has the traction spikes

Agree. What would really be neat is if the rowel turned out to be a coin, modified as a rowel!

Cleaned the best I could , lost some of the points on the rowel but it's still there . Now to wax it . I'm still thrilled I got this much out of it
