Did you read the new Pay Pal agreement or just agree to speed it up? The agreement states that they track your transactions and report them to the IRS. They will furnish you with a statement for tax purposes. Frank

Thanks Frankn. I was debating how much I might use them in the future. Looks like I would rather not use them at all.

:evil5: Thank you Frankn. The CC companies probably do something similar, or have the data available for govt perusal, but don't know if they report directly to IRS...? :dontknow:

I just found it. It was an amendment in 2010, set to enforce in 2011. It states anything over 20,000$ or 200 transactions/ year.

That is what I have found so far. That is the camels nose,(bad policy), but is there more?
Thanks.

We The People need to thin the govt ranks on all levels. Starting with cutting Congress's paychecks in half.

The more 'they' push..the more it's going to get ugly.

The Fed has long wanted to attack ebay and all online transactions not controlled by the government. They like the states are losing billions every year.

One day we'll talk about the old days when one could run a business for free on ebay.

I love online sales by the little guys and would hate to see them go but they will in the near future. Selling online will always be but in the future will be mostly big business.

But on the other hand, online selling is not all good. It, like Chinese imports, is killing our economy.

I buy lots of stuff directly out of China and many other countries. This is not good for local business and it's these small businesses who pay taxes and create jobs.

What we really need in this country is a policy similar to that China has. We need to make it illegal to import goods made here. Then we need to stop illegal immigration and bring the hammer down on welfare abuse. Add a total reform of our public school system with a return to discipline, respect, trades, and wow, we'd be a country once again.

Now, will any of this ever happen? Yes, it will when it's too late to matter.

So, I think I'll see what Ching Chaw Chan has in his auctions.

We the people are the owners of this country and the so called gov.officals that get your tax money for nothing are THE HIRED MAN no better that the guy that mowes your lawn(at least he works for the money).
This ia a well layed plan the bank rouped this country and the sonner everyone sees that, the better off we will be.Most of the people that run this country aren`t smart to pump their own gas let alone run a country.
Just look at THE Federal Resurve nothing Federal about it privety owned by the fat cats, that put worthless paper in one end of the printing press and money comes out the other end what a racket.
Did the mob take over the goverment OR did the goverment take over the mob?? we should vote the bumbs out or get a rope. But heck the dead people are voting some how,but who will look into that YEP another gov.offical sucking taxes form the swine trouth.

Hey Gary, is this the GOA site you belong?

As I understand it, the criteria for them reporting to the IRS is $20,000.00 in sales AND 200 transcations. You can have 500 sales that total $19,000.00 (or $50,000.00 and 199 sales) and they would not report you. It doesn't matter if you use several Ebay accounts they will combine and report the totals.

Hay Gray, watch the noose ! there is a law, If it has 13 loops at the top it is illegal!!

A proper hangmans noose has 8 loops in the knot.

I always thought it was 13, for luck? Thanks for the info. I guess it slips better with 8?

In history 13 loops was reserved for royality (quicker, painless and more humane) not the common man. Most got 8 loops and a short drop.

At first when I saw this thread, I thought maybe they'd put us in prison if we sold 1 item without paying taxes on the profit, which they would assume to exist if a sales receipt to us didn't show a higher cost.

I wonder if the income tax will be replaced by a national sales tax & put eBay & Amazon out of business if they don't buy enough politicians? If there was a detector you bought for $600 new & its used value was $300, but buyers considered the 30% (?) tax and the $40 (?) shipping, one would be lucky to get a $200 bid. Best wishes, George (MN)
