Feel like your in the 60's???? Ha!!

Did some more bank hopping and found a bank that had some halves...was supposed to be $300 worth....well I got there and it was only 3 rolls. The balance was dollar coins......grrrrr. I asked her if they were large dollars to which she replied no....then she said she had in an envelope in her drawer. She had a total of $41 in large dollars. I said I would take them. When she laid them out I saw the back of a Peace dollar and immediately started talking about the weather....lol.....I didn't want her to notice it. Score!!!!

Anyway, I hit more banks...one I had already been to about 5-6 months back. they had about $160 in hand rolls. When then teller came back from the vault and laid them out to count them.....I saw several rolls with "silver" written on them.....I thought...this can't be happening.....this happened to me 3 weeks back. The teller (young) never blinked an eye. She took my money and gave me the rolls. I got in my car and popped them open....yep....seven full rolls of silver. Then on top of that these silver coins look like they came straight from the mink....beautiful mint luster. I am no expert in grading coins but these are in very great shape. I have inserted a picture of a handful below.

I also picked some others up here and there. I picked up the worse shape 40% Kennedy I have ever found....this baby is in very bad shape. I inserted a picture of it too.

Another one of interest is a clad Kennedy that appears to have 3 very distinct bubbles in the coin. I have never seen one like this so if anyone has an idea about what it is please let me know. Picture of it is below.

The totals......the number in parenthesis is the AU quantity for each......

37-64's (21)
8-65's (2)
14-66's (8)
73-67's (25)
44-68's (10)
27-69's (8)
1-76-S Silver
1-Franklin 1954
1-Walker 1943-S
1-Peace Dollar 1923
3-Rosie's 51-S & 2x64
2-Proofs 1973 & 2001
5-NIFC 2x04 P&D, 1-2005-P, 2x2006 P&D

I knew what Peace meant coming from you. Another awesome day in LJville haha. I'm speachless (and jealous) so all I can say is Congrats.
I'm trying out a bank that uses a different armoured service, I'll find out Monday if there's any improvement. I told them if I like what I see I'll want $1000/wk, there are half dozen branches of this bank so I can spread it around- $1000/wk from each haha.
Congrats again on the silver, HH Mark

hello,
I see in your list of finds you got quite a few 46's, ;) , just a bit of fun i hope
take care

Opps....thanks for catching that...ha!

OH MY GOD girlfriend.... Way to go. I only found three Rosie's today at the bank. I asked for halves and someone had just picked them up a few hours before I got there. I asked for dimes in plastic and as soon as she put them on the counter I saw those silver dimes shinning at me. So I bought them. I also picked up two boxes of halves and I have not gone through them yet. I will let you know if they have anything in there. No way will they be as good as yours. I know I am coming down there to visit you now.

Great score LJ. Amazing how you can just walk in there, scoop up the silver and leave. Almost like robbing the places!

Your evil. You must have some of that Cajun MOJO stuff working. I love dream rolls. I need some. WTG

Most excellent there LJ !

Very awesome haul............and the Peace dollar to boot !

Keep paving the way for us "mere mortals". 8)

Whoa!!!
What a day!
I'm speechless- guess I'll have to start hitting the bank trail again.

Congrats!!!!!!! ;D

Very Nice LJ,

The worn Kennedy I bet was someone's pocket piece. I once worked with an older guy (he's passed on now) that had a strange sounding coin he would jingle in his pocket every now and then. One day (this was in 1991) I asked him what it was that made that sound and he pulled out this worn disk. You could barley make out the outline of part of the Eagle's (it used to be a new Peace dollar). He told me he worked pumping gas back in 1961 and someone had paid with a brand new condition 1923 dollar. He put a dollar bill in the till and always kept the coin in his pocket for luck. He had carried it every day for 30 years and that is all it took to go from brand new to an unrecognizable disk.

Happy Hunting,

Scott (Mich)

Yepper LJ, back in your championship form!

Again....awesome finds.

If I am not mistaken, your Peace Dollar is a 1923-S. In the picture there looks like there is a 'S' under the One on the reverse.

Peace, babe.... I knew what I was gonna see there, but didn't expect the other score. You done good...

The bubbled Ken probably was heated with a torch at some time. I've found a few like it.

That or it was in a fire at some point. Nice haul LJ!

The Peace is my fav dollar coin. Congrats! And all those silver halves ;D I wish I had 1/4 of your luck!

Thanks all. It was an exciting day.

Good eye Gman - Your right...it is an S mintmark. Thanks.

Cajun MOJO....too funny!!! Just lucky......

Since today I had no coins to search I took the Peace dollar I found last week & did the electrolysis thing on it. It looked as though it had been plated long ago. I just wanted to show you the before and after.

Sundays are bittersweet for me....glad to have the day off but usually done with all of my coin searching at this time on weekends.

Anyway, I was pleased with the results.......here are the before and after pictures........

Looks nice LJ. The one I just found in the bag was a little dingy. Because it has no real "coin" value (just silver) I cleaned it up with a jewelry cloth. It looks real nice now.
