I went to state park number 3 today and was having a lot of luck with sinkers (38) and pennies (39). I had found some jewelry, but nothing good except an earring back that might be silver. I was on my next to last pass before finishing, just about 10 feet from the swim rope boundary, in about 2 feet of water when I get a mid tone 73-75 VDI on the ATPro. Now 75-76 high tone is a zinc penny and I have never gotten that high a number and had it be a mid tone. So I am hoping that it is a good thing and I scoop up a nice little silver ring. It looks like it is part of a set so with high hopes I move on. 2 swings later I get a high tone 77-79 and out pops the companion silver ring. Yahoo things are looking up and I think I am done when on the next swing I get another 73-75 mid tone and yes it is a 3 ring set.

I went low and slow and spent 6 hours finishing the swim area and the beach in this park. I ended up with 43 coins with a face value of $.74, another toy car, 38 sinkers, some tabs and foil as always, 2 cheapy earrings, a silver earring back, a zipper pull, 5 rings, 2 whatzits and some fishing gear. The large amount of fishing gear tells me that more people fish here than swim here.

There is one copper kiddy ring missing the stone and mount, the 3 ring set and a titanium ring with blue stones.

I tested the blue stones and they are either blue topaz or tanzanite. My bet is on topaz. The ring set is marked 925 and has 25 small diamonds in it with a lot of diamond cut surface to make it look like it is covered in diamonds. (3 diamonds in each side ring, a center stone with 6 in the inner circle and 12 on the outer edges of the middle ring). You can see they don’t fit together like they should because the upper one in the picture is bent, possibly caused by something it got caught on that caused the set to be lost.

What are these things? I have found 6 or 7 of them in the water lately and I don’t have a clue what they are. Help!

Thanks for looking. I hope to clean up some other swimming areas next week so hopefully more goodies to show. May your coil lead you to good things.

They are brass or copper not lead they are thin and my first thought is they are some kind of electrical contact, but no idea what they came from or how an electrical contact would get in the water. At first glance they look like false fingernails except for the little indent.

Wow, cool find! I’ve never seen a multi-ring set like that. Keep up the good work!!

Nice ring set.
