I should say she’s in her 20’s and is a hunter...shot .45 ACP, .357 mag, .38 special, 9mm

This would be CCW.

Women have unique needs per hand size and strength.

She actually is on her way to a small collection and doesn’t know it.
She also wants something for the mountains for black bears...western style would be right up her alley (and mine), but I think CCW is the focus now.

Our Grandson does a lot of camping and hiking. We bought him a Public Defender 45LC/.410. I think the 45 would be sufficient to stop a black bear.

That's what I wear, and my 1911 fits in my front pocket just fine, can't even tell I'm carrying it.. Oh, and it is my every day carry gun.

Smells oddly like a few roadside restrooms I’ve been in.

Outdone by the girls I see. 10mm is a slightly obnoxious round.
.45 ACP is a pretty pleasant caliber in my experience. I don’t blame you for going with something on the light end.

for the right handgun for my needs.

Concrete, like many small town across America, has sadly
got a serious drug problem, and there's far too many drug
dealers living in my neighborhood. On our neighborhood
Fbook page I've been reading about too many burglaries
and trespassers wandering around on peoples property.
Meth and Heroin are the drugs of choice, and an addict
is going to steal anything they can get their hands on.

Although I will apply for a CCW, it will be on a rare occasion
that I would carry it. Primarily, I'm looking for a weapon I can
drop in my coat pocket when I go for walks as well as protecting
our home and lives.

For inside the house I have a very dependable Mossberg 12 ga.
pump that I've had about 40 yrs. I'd like a handgun with me in my
shop, and am seriously considering the Taurus Judge. In any conflict
I might run into, the bad guy is going to be at less than fifty feet,
and a proper load in that .410 will bring a quick end to the violence.

Thoughts...any advice?

If you get a judge get the magnum. Shoot .410 OOO buck 5, 9mm (or close) pellets.
Kicks according to your weight/arm size.

Think 15 feet...not 50 feet.
We have the same problems in my small town. Recently there was an armed robbery...a shootout, and a stabbing all in the last week or so.

I’m not going to be wishing I could make it to my truck.

The idea of putting something in a coat pocket is fine in the winter...but what do you do in the summer?
Ive found that it really takes some thought and some doing before you really come up with a good solution.

That might be couple handguns and 6 holsters later.

Nickel plated Colt Python. I love this gun. They are big and heavy. You have to want to pull trigger. There bark is pronounced and they’ll knock the bumper off a small pickup truck. They are good shooters, you can hit a target down range, reliable and safe.
As far as concealed, there might be an outline but I think better for the world to see. Its hidden enough for someone to say to self hmm is that what I think it is? I best move on.

If you want a truly concealable 9mm check out the Diamondback DB-9. As small as a 380, will shoot the +P ammo. Less than 1 inch wide. It is not something to spend a day at the range with as it's light and will definitely let you know your shooting it. Accurate with Glock type sights. Truly disappears on your waist or in a pocket. I've had mine for a couple of years, no issues with reliability. I have bigger handguns but carry the DB-9 daily.

Never on my radar till you mentioned it.
Very affordable for sure and compact.

Did you have any problems while you were breaking it in?

You could buy two of the Diamondbacks for the price of a Kimber micro 9 or a Sig P938.
Somehow I think the latter two would be a little more pleasant to shoot due to being slightly heavier.

The .410/00 buck or 000 buck is an awesome load, but it may not stop someone high on meth. That's where your second round would be a 45LC. I would use this combo around home. Out in the brush, two 45LC, one .410 snake load and a couple of 00 buckshot to round off your delivery package.

IMO, their is a big advantage to double action revolvers. Easy to operate and easy to carry with an empty chamber but ready to fire when the trigger is puller. I prefer a four inch barreled revolver. With them tiny short barreled pieces I'm always afraid I'm going to shoot myself on the draw. : )

I have shot a lot of 4 buck shot gun loads. 42? pellets in a3 inch mag. Remington 870 wing master.
Not at all a concealed carry.
Off topic but I can’t imagine anything smaller than a Mack truck wading threw that barrage from 50 yards in.

Wish I had a double action smooth enough to worry me about accidental discharges.
Ammo availability really isn’t a huge concern for me, other than I’d like to standardize the family.
I roll my own smokes so generally it’s not a problem.

But ur right about it beings slim pickings at the moment.
I heard people were paying $300 a thousand for primers!!
