U.S. cannabis shoppers face a market flush with illegal weed

Don't believe everything you read. You should know that. Hell, I don't even know of anyone
growing and selling direct to consumers around here, and if they did put that nasty stuff
in their weed their own life expectancy wouldn't be worth a tinker's dam.

Grew for a couple decades, and now buy through the dispensaries because of the time
and labor involved with growing. I buy a tin of 20 joints for $21, then supplement that with
a disposable vape of some higher THC content. Two tins of joints and a couple vape cartridges
last me about 3 weeks.

And yes, dispensary weed is generally pretty schwaggy stuff. Outdoor is tough to grow here
because of so much rain in the early Fall, but I may give it a go next Spring and see if I can
get them to finish off before the bud rot sets in.

Well I you sure seem quite a bit ignorant on this fentanyl lacing. And they say seniors are very susceptible to overdose.

Yeah, it’s one thing to have your own opinion. Of course you don’t know who laced it.

I’ll say it again fentanyl is found in almost all street drugs including cannabis. And YES, I know first hand about it. Don’t ask me.

Legalization turned into a money grab. Let's act surprised.
Starting with big money invested to maybe get approved for a grow.
One invested asked a potential grower to mortgage his home here. Without being permitted yet! You had to have a facility in hand though. What a crock of compost.
I told the guy heck no. Your investor wants that I'd tell him to go fly a kite.
Same potential grower visited legal grows in California. Made our state look like wannabes and chumps.
Meanwhile a grow [ a grow permit evolves into; you can grow with this permit ($$$) but you can't process without this other permit$$$). What?
And you can't distribute or transport without another permit($$$).
Oh you want to sell? Probably a permit ($$) for that too. Or multiple variants.

In the process of increasing costs and hoops to jump through does anyone detect the hint of why legal grows aren't the most exciting concept in the marijuana business?

Lat week my state decided that the false claims of the roads being fixed have now (after how long) found salvation in adding an additional Marijuana tax for road repairs.. Which if you were stoned probably still isn't funny being it is illegal to drive under the influence.

Cartel grows shouldhave been eliminated long before now.
Documentation isn't speculation and the impact on the environment . and innocent parties and more have long been established.
Busting a kids illegal grow in a subdivision looks great on media. It does nothing about what's going on in the woods though.
Of course the kid isn't booby trapped into his environment and scary as cartels when cornered. Which is likely why cartels still have abundant grows in California.

No idea where you live, and I'm speaking only about weed...not that
other poison commonly referred to as "drugs".

I live in the N. Cascades around a couple generations of tarheel loggers,
and while we have an average share of meth, heroin and fentanyl addicts,
if a guy bought weed and it was laced with *anything* other than just good
weed, the seller would be in a very bad spot.

Bad spot as in tied to a tree way back in the woods, naked and covered with
honey and ham. At least that's what happened to the last dealer that pulled
such a prank. Amazingly, he survived the night and moved back to Seattle the
next week.

That's life in a small American town of 800.

Well it was legalized here in Colorado and we are more broke than ever haha.
No one knows where all that money went and now they need alot more!

All this free stuff is getting too expensive!

Yeah some article says fentanyl in weed is rare. Cartel here in Montana. One in Washington state too, but I suspect a lot of private growers make up the street weed. Not here in Montana.

BTW if you put plant in container bring it indoors to bloom it. Lay it down flat in the floor in a tray filled with water every five days. Light overhead and keep it close. You see photos of growing warehouse, the lights are a long ways away from the plant. No wonder most of the weed is not that good.

That's a good idea, however by the time that outdoor plant is ready to start flowering
it will probably be far too large for me to bring indoors. Had a neighbor that used to
get a couple starts from me every year and plant them in a spot behind his house. By
the time August came around they were usually taller than his house. I suggested he
top it a few times to keep it shorter, and when he did it just got wider..like 8' around!

I'm going to look into a small greenhouse or some type of canopy to keep the rain
off them. In the fall, they get wet from the rain and it's not warm enough to dry up the
water before the rot. If I can keep them dry, odds are they can finish off outside.

Indoors, I always tried to keep my lights as close as possible, but without causing light
burns to the tops. Big warehouse grows don't do that as their lights are usually fixed
position at some distance from the plants. I agree, it makes for wimpy weed.

The mold and pesticide findings in that Fairfield bust aren't an exception. That's the baseline for black market weed everywhere. You bypass lab testing, you inhale whatever the grower sprayed on the crop to cut costs. It's the exact reason regulated medical channels exist.
