The 2nd photo is really interesting has a lot of detail to it excellent photos you took.

In the first pic you can spot what they call Kokopelli in the upper right quarter of the pic. That second pic is a different type thing. There's a little more to it but this is the interesting part. I haven't seen it in any of the books on rock art I've seen. I think it may have some kind of religious meaning, or else they got ahold of some of that moonflower. In the third pic of line dancers, note the guy on the far left, with his head canted to his right. Might have been party time for him!

I have looked at quite a few places of these drawings they were done by the Freemount natives mostly but I have never looked at these ones, that 2nd pic I need to go take look at some time. If you ever go over Douglas pass headed toward Rangley stop at Canyon Pintado there is also some amazing things there but it is disappearing they were done with color and carved to.

The pictographs are only about a foot tall, professor. If you get out that way, cyzak, check out Sego Canyon north of Thompson Springs. Easy to get to and not a lot of walking involved. These pics are from there. Styles represented are Archaic, Fremont, and historic Ute.

I will defiantly do that I have yet to be to Sego and I have heard in to be a very impressive place.Here is one that is probably just down the road from were you were at.

Thanks for sharing this all with us RG, I've never taken the time to investigate this area all that much. When you gonna head up to explore this region of NW Colorado.? or maybe you have ?? It's a very quiet area as not many folks venture into this region of Colorado from what I've experienced.

I might head up towards Pintado in September, tr, I'd like to check that out. I'm gonna head out to the San Luis Valley tomorrow for a couple of days. I need to get some illustrations done for a book, which I have kinda slacked on for about a month now. If I'm completely away from everybody I can knock that out pretty quick. The publisher is probably getting antsy, but ain't no money changed hands yet, so she can wait a little longer for inspiration to strike me, haha!
