I am going through my finds for the year and i found this Button or badge or something. Lol..
Its made from pewter and starting to crumble apart..It was found at a church that was held by the British in 1777..
Not sure if related. But its definitely older..
Any help would be great..
I thought at first it was from a lock company..But now i dont think so..
The way its falling apart. And made out of pewter..Who knows????
Thanks for looking and any input.
George

I'm guessing the style of the letters may be a clue. It does remind me of some of the writing from early railroad stuff but pewter would be older than that I would think. Hope you get an id cause I'm very curious buddy

Just throwing a thought out there, use what you want and just throw the rest away.

Could that be "I L C O" ? :icon_scratch:

As an aside, how does one tell if it's pewter?

Thats what i was thinking..
The ilco company is a lock company..
But being pewter and really falling apart
Made me think it could be something else. .Well its not pot metal..So it looks like pewter to me..I have found lots of pewter things over this last year of detecting..So thats my best guess..
Thanks for responding..
George

I know its the same script as the locks..
I said that...I was wondering if they had buttons or badges???
Its not a lock..I know the company started in 1862 out of Germany..So i was just curious if anyone found anything like this before..
Thanks Nick..

Lol that's too funny. Someday you're gonna dig a 77 and throw it in a pile without looking :-) Do you have any 66-72?
