Pewter? Spoon handle

I think it is pewter. Came out in two pieces (not my fault). I assume it’s old Based on everything else I find dates around 1830-40 aside from modern junk. I don’t really know. Also what’s the best way to preserve it cause it seems like it could easily crumble in my hands.

Sure looks pewter, most of the ones I’ve found come out in pieces too. Nice old find, congrats
